A superb example of a Thai princess harem ring (nop-pa-kao) in 9 carat gold with three rows of vibrant, pink-red rubies.
This particular example is unusual. It bears the three rows to create the appearance of an exotic rising flower but the setting has also been skillfully worked to create an optical illusion of flower petals. In combination, the ring emerges as an extremely delicately worked piece in the classic 40s / 50s style but with embellishments.
These rings are essentially sweetheart rings that were originally a popular style brought home by returning soldiers in the mid to late 40s, early to mid 50s (post WWII).
Weight: 8.02 grams
Diameter (of flower): 2.3 cm
Condition: presenting in fantastic, vintage / antique condition.
