A lovely Qing crackle glazed guan-type snuff bottle with a resin stopper. This snuff bottle has a particularly pleasing shape and is in fantastic condition.
Guan porcelain is a style of stoneware / porcelain that originated in the Song Dynasty and is typified by the hairlined patinations on the glaze.
I have seen this type of glaze and colouration on other snuff bottles but the shape is quite unique in comparison to other samples I have seen.
Provenance: this piece and several others that we have listed were purchased pre-1983 by the previous collectors who had been collecting snuff bottles for several generations. This particular bottle was purchased by the grandmother of the family sometime in the mid-20th century.
Condition: the spoon has disappeared unfortunately but it was likely a carved bone example so this is not surprising. Otherwise it is in fantastic condition.
Height: 8 cm
