A beautifully decorated peking glass snuff bottle displaying three bats with a shou (longevity) character and a coiled chilong / qilin on the reverse. The artist has chosen to use alternating shades of turquoise, yellow, and dark green glass to decorate this particular bottle.
The symbolism of bats, shou, and chilong in combination is quite auspicious as it symbolises longevity, good fortune and wealth. All three symbols are historically significant and it is not a surprise to find all three incorporated on a Qing era snuff bottle.
The bottle also bears a metal worked, gem set top with Tibetan influenced design.
The design of the stopper and inclusion of bats, shou, and chilong in this particular medium, peking glass, allow us to accurately place this piece in the Qing period.

The bottle is in fantastic condition but does have one chip to the top rim (pictured). The price reflects this small flaw.
