A fantastic New Zealand interest roimata pounamu gold capped pendant. Early Edwardian, stamped for 9 carat, Birmingham, and 1902.
Roimata is a traditional pounamu design that symbolises the flow of life and the strength, health, and energy needed to successfully navigate through it.
Many English visited New Zealand during the late 19th and into the 20th centuries. The natural beauty of New Zealand's vistas and prominent sights such as the pink and white terraces were massive draws for tourism, in these early years. There were also a lot of Scottish and English that had immigrated which brought over many families for visits.
