An early Edwardian sterling silver fob watch stamped and signed to the dial by Baume Longines, a top Swiss watch manufacturer. The jump ring is original to the watch with a later set poppy brooch.
The poppy brooch is an interesting addition as it suggests a connection with World War I after which the poppy became a symbol of remembrance. The brooch is stamped 'STG' for sterling silver.
The watch is stamped with the Swiss silver bear mark standard and a B&Co makers stamp with three stars. The serial number, '1335451', is a good indicator of the year this was manufactured which looks to be 1902.
The case is beautifully worked with an engraved floral pattern and an empty cartouche or shield. It still winds and keeps time very well but it is a small spring movement so needs to be wound regularly. It also comes in an original silk lined, leather box that is authentic to the period.
