An elegant 10 carat gold, seed pearl and diamond pendant dating between the mid to late Victorian period when jewellery of this type was extremely popular. The pendant was likely gifted as a wedding gift to a blushing young bride given that seed pearls are symbols of purity. It was common to gift them with such items.
"Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in her shoe."
The style is quite typical of the period but this piece has been extremely well put together and is a smaller size and 2.5 cm wide. The craftsmanship is quite apparent. It is also in fantastic condition with all 51 seed pearls unblemished. The diamond is old cut and approximately .06 carats (SI2, H Colour).
We have an independent valuation putting the insurance value at AU$3,500 which will accompany the pendant.
No chain provided.
